Process Improvement Using CostMapping™

What is CostMapping™?

CostMapping™ is a performance improvement method that combines the principles of Activity Based Costing (ABC) with the best practices of process mapping.

What is the Workshop Objective?
The primary objective is to help you improve an existing process. An equally important objective of this two-day workshop is to train managers and employees how to create, use and sustain CostMapping™ to achieve performance and process improvement. To enhance the value of the workshop, ICMS will work with you prior to the on-site training to pre-select a process for use during the workshop.

Who Should Attend?
Every department involved in the pre-selected process should send one (1) employee from each job title. In addition, the person(s) responsible for maintaining the CostMapper™ software should also participate.

What is the Agenda?

Day One: Morning

  • Pre-selected employees create the "as is" map of a pre-selected process
  • Identify non-value activities
  • Identify process bottlenecks

Day One: Afternoon

  • CostMapper™ software training for user
  • Enter map into the CostMapper™ software
  • Enter costs into the CostMapper™ software
  • Enter activity time estimates into the CostMapper™ software

Day Two: Morning

  • Review the "as is" CostMap™ with employees
  • Define one or more process improvement projects using ICMS' Using ABM for Continuous Improvement book
  • Estimate savings using the CostMapper™ software

Day Two: Afternoon

  • Present process improvement plans to senior management for approval
  • Wrap-up CostMapper™ software training

Who is the Trainer?
ICMS will provide a knowledgeable, experienced trainer to lead the workshop.
