Question 6:
I installed CMS-PC 4.0 onto my computer/network and it appeared to install properly, but now and I am having trouble starting the program.

Answer:
If you installed the CMS-PC 4.0 disks and are encountering problems, there are several things that could be causing a conflict so CMS-PC 4.0 will not run. Read through the items below to find a solution:

1. When you click the CMS-PC 4.0 icon, is a blank screen generated that has CMS-PC 4.0 at the very top?

YES. You have a video driver conflict with Microsoft FoxPro. To solve this, you must choose a standard VGA video driver instead of the one you currently have loaded. Refer to your Windows documentation on how to change your video driver.

NO. Go to the next issue.

2. When you click the CMS-PC 4.0 icon, do you get a message that reads: "The Maximum Number of Users Has Been Reached. Try again Later." ?

YES. This message occurs when you install the CMS-PC 4.0 installation diskettes more than once. Several reasons occur why people reinstall the diskettes: (1) The first time they installed, they encountered an error; (2) They did not realize the software had already been installed; (3) They installed the software to the wrong computer the first time; or (4) They are trying to set up network workstations, had difficulty and reinstalled.

  • If you reinstalled the software and are receiving the message above, call or fax Christine Nola at ICMS to obtain "activation codes" that will get your CMS-PC 4.0 software started again. Telephone: 817-475-2945 Fax 817-483-7097
  • If you did not reinstall the software and are receiving the message above, it is possible your computer’s files are not set high enough to run Microsoft FoxPro (the program CMS-PC 4.0 was written in). Follow the instructions in the CMS-PC 4.0 User’s Guide starting on page 13 to set your files to 99. If you run on a network and individual workstations are having problems running CMS-PC 4.0, follow the instructions on the attached Tips & Tricks sheet for help setting up network workstations to run CMS-PC 4.0.

3. When you click the CMS-PC 4.0 icon, you get the User Id and Password screen but it will not accept your "CMS" user Id and Passwords.

YES. The "CMS" User Id and Password may have been deleted by someone. Call or fax Christine Nola at ICMS to obtain a "backdoor" password to get you into your CMS-PC 4.0 software. Telephone: 817-475-2945 Fax 817-483-7097

NO. Go to the next issue.

4. When you click the CMS-PC 4.0 icon, you receive any error message other than the ones listed above.
